Federal Government Announces Eid El Fitr Public Holidays - Time for Celebration!"


The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially announced Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10, 2024, as public holidays to commemorate the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.


The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, acting on behalf of the Federal Government. This announcement comes as Muslims around the world conclude the holy month of Ramadan, marked by fasting, prayer, and reflection.


In a statement released by the Ministry's Permanent Secretary, Aishetu Ndayako, Minister Tunji-Ojo extended heartfelt congratulations to all Muslims for their dedication and commitment throughout the month of fasting.


Emphasizing the significance of Eid-el-Fitr, the Minister urged Muslims to embrace and practice the virtues exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him), including kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighborliness, and compassion.


Furthermore, Minister Tunji-Ojo called upon all Nigerians to uphold the spirit of unity, emphasizing its critical role in fostering peace, progress, and national cohesion. He urged citizens to work together towards the common goal of building a harmonious and prosperous society.
