"IPOB Slams Military's Wanted Declaration: Defends Leader Amidst 'Bandit' Labeling"

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has strongly criticized the Nigerian military for declaring its Head of Directorate of State, Chika Edoziem, wanted, alongside other individuals labeled as "bandits" and "terrorists." According to a statement issued by IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful, the group condemned the military's decision, asserting that associating Edoziem with such individuals is an affront to the IPOB global community.

Powerful emphasized IPOB's unwavering commitment to its self-determination movement aimed at restoring the Biafra nation, stating that they refuse to be intimidated by any form of government pressure or blackmail. The statement clarified IPOB's stance, distancing itself from individuals mentioned in the wanted list, aside from Edoziem.

Furthermore, IPOB highlighted Edoziem's leadership as peaceful and disciplined, spanning over a decade while adhering to the principles outlined by the United Nations regarding self-determination through a referendum. The group underscored that Edoziem has not been linked to any criminal or violent activities either within Biafra land or in the diaspora.

IPOB criticized the Nigerian military for its alleged confusion regarding the identities of Eastern Security Network (ESN) operatives and IPOB volunteers, arguing that the violent criminals in the South-East are under the command of Simon Ekpa, distinct from Edoziem's leadership. IPOB accused the Nigerian government of recruiting criminals through Ekpa and attempting to associate their activities with IPOB and ESN to discredit the movement.

Challenging the Federal Government to justify why Edoziem was declared wanted and linking him to bandits and terrorists, IPOB asserted that such actions aim to tarnish Edoziem's reputation internationally due to his effective leadership within the IPOB community.

Despite the threats and propaganda, IPOB reaffirmed its determination towards achieving Biafra's self-determination, emphasizing that the arrest of its leaders will not deter their pursuit. The statement concluded with a strong assertion of IPOB's innocence in the pursuit of Biafra's self-determination and its commitment to resisting any attempts to suppress their cause.

The ongoing tensions between IPOB and the Nigerian government highlight the complex socio-political landscape in Nigeria, particularly concerning issues of identity, autonomy, and governance in the South-East region.
