"Delta Monarch Flown to Abuja Amidst Controversy Over Soldier Killings"

The traditional ruler of Ewu Kingdom, HRM Clement Ikolo, located in the Urhobo Community within the Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, has been flown to Abuja by military authorities. This action comes after the monarch surrendered himself to the police following his declaration as wanted by the military in connection to the killing of 17 soldiers in the Okuama Community.

Sources reveal that after the police handed over Ikolo to the Army, he underwent extensive interrogation before being escorted to the Asaba International Airport by a team led by the Commanding Officer of the 63 Brigade Nigeria Army in Asaba.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the monarch's handover to the military, stating, "Confirmed."

Previously, on Thursday, the monarch had organized a press conference where he proclaimed his innocence before submitting himself to the police. He vehemently denied any involvement in the killings and emphasized his commitment to peace and justice. Additionally, he expressed surprise and dismay at being implicated in such a serious crime, stating that it goes against his principles as a human being and his faith as a Catholic.

Ikolo urged thorough investigations to identify the actual perpetrators and bring them to justice. He also mentioned that the state government was aware of the challenges he had been facing and had initiated steps to address the situation before these events unfolded.

The situation surrounding Ikolo's alleged involvement in the killings remains contentious, with ongoing investigations expected to shed more light on the matter. Meanwhile, his transfer to Abuja signifies a significant development in the case, as authorities continue to pursue justice and maintain law and order in the region.
